Hi! I’m Sarah–a wedding photographer serving couples by creating legacy through timeless imagery. If you’re new here, you can learn more about my process and the SVH couple experience here! I serve Auburn, Birmingham, and Atlanta, and am also available for travel nationwide & internationally. Auburn, Alabama is my home base (War Eagle) and as an experienced wedding photographer, I have some tips for you when planning your Auburn wedding! There are a few things that are important to know before you book your date/venue. Getting married in Auburn is SO much fun, here are some of my tips!

Take Auburn Football into Account

Auburn is first & foremost, a college town. And not just any college town…we’re SEC baby! Which means in the fall, football is KING. This is important when it comes to choosing your date because if it falls on the same weekend as a home football game, you’re going to run into some challenges. The town’s population nearly doubles on home game weekends, which will make it harder for your guests to book hotel rooms, transportation etc. You must also take traffic into consideration if you will be traveling between multiple locations (for example a church ceremony). So look up that home game schedule and plan accordingly!

How to Get Your Marriage License

Getting your marriage license in Alabama is actually pretty easy, all you have to do is print the form, get it notarized, and send it to the probate office. You can either have a notary at your wedding post-ceremony, or you can get it notarized and drop it off before your wedding day! Fun fact: in Alabama you don’t need a formal ceremony of any kind, all you need is the license and you’re legally married!

The Best Places for Photos

When getting married in Auburn, think about the vibe/overall aesthetic you want your photos and heirloom album to have. This will affect your choice in venue & photo locations! If you are getting ready, having your ceremony & reception all at one location, this will likely be where we take all of your photos. Think of that when touring the venue. If you are planning on having several locations throughout the day, and/or you have your heart set on a specific location for photos (i.e Samford Hall) we can build extra time into your timeline to accommodate! Some venues/locations I love: Auburn Oaks Farm, Moore’s Mill Club, Samford Hall, Keisel Park, the Arboretum.
